Blake's 3!!!

Blake,
"Somebody once said, you can't love baby number 5 as much as your first...someone never had 5 kids!" By far one of my favorite quotes, and oh so true. My baby turns 3 today. Honestly seems unbelievable. Blake, you are such a sweet boy. Somebody else also said that baby number 5 will weigh more than all your other kids...That somebody didn't have you. You were our smallest. 6lbs 11oz. 18 inches long. I remember, well. We had them re-measure you (after all Dawson was 24 inches long and Cole was 22.) You had different plans.

After having 4 babies, I thought I knew just how things would go. I was induced for all your siblings, once Dawson came in at a roaring 10 lbs, and 12 days late - I delivered Cole and Aleigha 10 days early. Planned the same for you. 10 days before my due date, I would walk into the hospital with all babysitters lined up, bags packed, Brian's week vacation all planned....WAIT!!!! STOP!!! Did I mention yet, that you had other plans??? Went to the OB 3 weeks before your due date, had a stress test, your heartbeat wasn't cooperating...sure it was there....but it was speeding up and slowingggggg wayyyy down. SO I was quickly whisked into an ultrasound room, my OB even performed the test. It was called a biophysical...he said "Kendrah, this is either a pass or fail test, but you should know in the last 10 years only one baby has failed - I suspect this will simply show us how great he looks in there and we can rest assured" "OK, I nodded nervously, lets see him" I remember waiting UN patiently as he organized the room, put the gel on my tummy and turned the machine on...beep,beep,beep "OK here we go, what I'm looking for is signs that he is thriving in there...if he opens and closes his hand he gets 2 points, if he kicks either leg he gets 2 more points, if he takes a practice breath while in there, 2 more points...if he has a steady heart rate while at rest, 2 points." Well Blake son, you did none of the above. They even used a little metal thing to my belly and tried to kinda shock you, but you didn't move, you never moved your mouth, you never kicked your legs, you never opened your fist and you didn't keep a steady heart rate while laying perfectly still. I remember them quickly wiping off my stomach, the Dr. walking in the hall to call the hospital "I have a patient I'm sending down immediately, this baby has been charted as "failure to thrive" and needs to be fully monitored at all times...start the pitocin, and IF we see declines in baby's heart rate, emergency prep her for a C-Section"

WOW! He is talking about me in the hall, I can't have a baby today, this isn't the day. I don't have sitters, Brian is at work, My camera, the babies bag, is all at home...oh man. OK get it together, Call Brian at work as calmly as possible explain and have him meet me at the hospital. Screwed that up called Daddy screaming "we are having a baby today!" Made it to the hospital, cried because it wasn't as I predicted, and I didn't want you to come after Midnight - I figured you and Cole both deserved your own B-day! So if you were coming you had about 10 hours to do so. Pitocin started at 1pm, you looked wonderful on the monitors, everything was working out after all, 3pm, mom was dilated to 4cm, 6pm mom was at 7cm 8:21pm Blake enters the world. Missing Cole's B-day by 3.5 hours.

See Blake, it's still your plan sweetheart. You've added a good mixture of juice, sponge bob, and screaming while we roll down a hill in the van. With your arms waving high and everything...you think that we are on your own personal roller coaster!! You've convinced Aleigha so she joins in your roller coaster scream-a-thon!

You are growing so much everyday, and I don't want to miss a thing!!!! This is your journey sweet boy, thanks for the ride. Mom
