Back & Better
Back and Better Current mood: okay
Wow!!! Did I need a break. Brian and I went to a cottage in Baldwin with another couple, friends of ours....without kids for the weekend!!!! It was WONDERFUL!!! I missed my kids at first, really I did;) Than I was so bummed that the time was up. We scrapbooked, while the guys fished, we hung out at a bomb fire...took a nap in the hammock...went to a smokey bar for dinner one night...that had no air conditioning or waitresses with teeth...BUT we had fun.
The kids were tired and a little grouchy....but all very well taken care of!!!
Tonight I have to go get Dawson his glasses, they are in....:( He is SO not excited..wish us luck....PS..for the rest of the mommies out there, SCHOOL STARTS SOON.

News Current mood: numb
First and Foremost, I have the most amazing friends, thanks for all the prayers. Cole had his doctor appointment today. We met with his Neurologist. Cole was officially diagnosed with Epilepsy today :( I'm crying as I type this...I was strong all day, and kept my tears in until my family was all in bed. It's so hard to see a child SO happy and full of life...and know that internally he is struggling. We were told that Cole probably has more seizures than we witness. He is probably a confused little boy at times, as he doesn't know what is going on either. When I think about his world, it makes me cry. He doesn't have the ability to communicate like ordinary 4 year olds...he is deaf in one ear, and struggles with his speech. Sometimes being a mommy is yucky, and I feel a little helpless today. I think that Brian and I may have looked a little dumb founded as she repeated the word "Epilepsy" to us a "few" times. Cole started a new medication today.
We also found out that thankfully Cole does NOT demosnstrate signs of Autism, but does show several traits of ADHD. We will meet with a Nero Physcologist for an official diagnosis of this soon. Cole will also have another MRI and EEG study done within the next month to hopefully bring us some more answers.....thanks for the prayers...I'm going to indulge in some chocolate ice-cream ;)

Please Pray for Us.

Prayer Request...... Current mood: distressed
Hello all.....as many of you know....Our son Cole has been a "special" addition to the DeYoung clan. Cole has had several diagnoses within the last 4 years, including: Heart Murmor, Seizure Disorder, Sleep disturbances, severe reflux, hyatal hernia, Left Hemi, and mild CP. In the last year we also found out that Cole is at least 50 percent deaf.
A few years ago when we were just learning of some challenges ahead of us, Cole's Neurologist mentioned that Cole's type of Brain injury has some similarities to Autism. He warned us that in time we would see some behavioral challenges....Nothing really could have prepared us. First let me start by saying that he is a TRUE blessing despite how this is coming across. HONESTLY. He has taught us SO much. (lately a good lesson in patience.)
Kennedy and Dawson both have gone through some yucky kid times, but with Cole it is just SO different. He can snap like a rubber band....the sweetest little guy you ever met, to a child who is so out of control, he becomes impossible to manage. Last night I sat in bed and cried, "Lord, please give me the strength and knowledge to parent him in a way that will work for all of us".
Cole goes to meet with his Neurologist tomorrow, and we also see a behavioral specialist....The Deyoungs will appreciate all your prayers....

Sleep Overs Current mood: lethargic
Hello All! Well Kennedy wanted to have her friend Stephanie stay the night....everything started out wonderful.....pop, pickles, pizza, string cheese, movies, kool-aid......until about 10:00..."I think that I want to call my mom". Ok honey....so we called her mom and she decided that she just needed to say goodnight, and than she was fine to go back to Kennedy's room..(for abolut 5 minutes) "I think that I want to go home"..ok so we loaded up and brought her home (she lives around the block) When we got there, she gave her mom a hug, and hopped back in my van..."ahh, Stephanie you don't want to stay here?" "Nope, I just needed to give my mom a hug". Her mom told her, "honey, you need to come inside and we will try this again another day". Than came the tears, LOTS of them too! "But I just wanted to give you a hug". SO she came back to our house and we tried again. All was well until Kennedy fell asleep first...than Stephanie decided that she wanted to go home again. This time it was 11:45. SO I called her mom, and she came and got her. Kennedy woke up at 3am, she had an accident and peed the bed and than noticed that her friend was gone...so not only was I changing sheets and giving her a bath at 3 this morning.. I was explaining why her friend left as she was crying hysterically. YUP never a dull moment.

I'm Back........
I've returned!!!!!! My blogging days are back. If you noticed I have a new address so save this in your favorites and delete the old one. (long story) BUT, I can't get in the old one to update. I have some dedicated blog readers!!! WOW! I was even told that I was better than the morning cup of coffee, well HAVE NO FEAR, THE DEYOUNG BLOG IS HERE!
Well in the last 5 weeks, I was fired from my job. Betrayed by someone whom I thought was a VERY good friend, and quickly found out differently. Very, very, very sad. Hard lesson learned for sure. However, I did just find out that I won my unemployment claim, HURRAY! let's see we have gone to Michigan Adventure, boating (lots), swimming, bike riding, been feeding the ducks, playing at the park, hanging out with friends, enjoying the blistering HEAT (ok, I'm kidding on that one.) been to a whitecaps game (yes all 7 of us!), provided TLC to 5 bee stings so far, rescued Kennedy from a live trap in the woods, (really, she was stuck!), Rescued Cole from a tree that he climbed, but was too afraid to come back down, lost a frog in the house (it is still loose, not kidding), dealt with 2 seizures (Cole), 2 ear infections (Blake), purchased a Nintendo Game Cube....(the kids earned it), probably consumed close to 300+ popsicles, purchased 3 new backpacks, POTTY TRAINED COLE (yes, thank-you very much!!!) (of course he still has his "me-me"), Kennedy and Dawson were in my cousins wedding and were absolutely adorable!!!
Well make sure you keep reading I have LOTS more where this came from.
