Tonight I sat and starred at our Christmas tree while everyone was drifting off to sleep. Our tree is a collection of DeYoung history. It's amazing when you really stop to look at it. The tree is covered with ornaments that represent the birth of each child, ornaments from our trip in 2004 to "The Great Wolf Lodge", a shiny one from "Jelly-Stone" in 2005. Even a dragon fly from 2008, representing the first and ONLY tattoo that I have on my foot. Ornaments from the new Millennium, from Mexico on our honey moon, Ballet Shoes to represent the first and only year that Kennedy took dance class, combined with my favorites the ones that all the children have made for us throughout the years. (the ones with their pictures in them, they are so priceless!) AND NO KIDDING, as of tonight we are sporting a large pot holder that Blake just had to put on the tree this year, because it had a "hanger" (loop) on the end! Ornaments that have been rescued from kids hang a little closer to the top. Ornaments given as gifts for housewarming presents, some that were even tied to our wedding packages...It's just amazing. AND on the top of our tree we have a gorgeous Angel that lights up, Brian's mother bought that for our first Christmas together back when we lived in a tiny apartment! So much history on this little (big) tree!
I'm in week 4 of radiation, had a nasty seizure last night, so I've been feeling a little under the weather, but a simple moment of quiet, watching my tree, has brought me back to feeling better! If nothing else it floods my mind with the births of my kiddo's, vacation's alone with my husband and even together as a family!!! I'm such a blessed momma. I'll leave you with a picture of my tree. Followed by a picture of my inspiration, the reason I keep plugging along, a picture of "My life".
Happy Holidays Friends from our home to yours! God Bless!

Your tree is beautiful, but your kids outshine it!
I was looking at our ornaments too and am working on a post showing a few of them and the memories they bring. What fun!
I love it :)
