God And......

I admit, I'm a blog lurker. I have some great friends who have blogs, some new friends as well. I also have a few that I visit frequently just because they interest me. A few blogs in particular have children around the same ages of my kids. These woman are all around my age and have such a STRONG faith, that I read their blog and seek more. I want what they have. I want to feel like they feel.
I know about faith. It's not like I don't pray. I have a vibrant prayer life and a growing spiritual life. I put my faith and trust in God a long time ago and as He said, He's never left my side.

But lately I have realized a profound truth.

I have fallen victim to the "God Ands" I've been putting my faith in God, sure, but just to back that up … you know, just in case, I've also been trying to muscle through this. I've put my faith in God AND myself … in God AND my positive attitude … in God AND my long-suffering husband. In God AND so many things. Like an add-on, and extra boost, an additional shot of espresso in my morning coffee.

I was speaking with a friend and she made me realize somethings (thanks Nicole!)
What I need is a "God Only" faith. A faith that says God only will sustain me through my next surgery or next stone passing PAIN. God only will cradle my weary head and heart. God only will find me in my blackest and darkest night and walk me home. God Only Faith is so different from God And Faith.

I don't know how I will go from God And to God Only. And there is my doubt - which is a part of faith. I've done God And for so long. But I'm willing. I'm willing.

I think most of us know in our head the we only need God. However our minds (and Satan) keep throwing in the "and part of it. You've been very honest and I think that if we're honest most of us do that, while striving for the "God only".

I just saw your question on my blog. Here is the website for the photo collage. There are several different types you can use.

Ah..that willingness God will answer with a big YES! He will show you that He is all you need, no "and". It is a journey that we are all on! Everyday he shows us his wonderful faithfulness, not only in healing sometimes, but in the not healing and his presence!

I think that it's awesome that you're learning that God is all you need. It's not always easy, but there is a certain amount of comfort in knowing that He will handle it all - we're all just along for the ride :)
